Suicide is the second leading cause of death among young people ages 10-19. The Model School District Policy on Suicide Prevention provides school districts for education levels K-12 with a framework and practical guidance for the implementation of procedures to assess the risk of, intervene in, and respond to suicide. While no school policy can adequately cover every possible situation, this document is quite comprehensive, and may be adapted in drafting your own school policy based on the unique needs for your district to more fully support the emotional well-being of your students.
